Into: Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

Tammy Klingensmith
As technology advances this becomes more and more of an issue. There are now commercials and billboard ads encouraging people to use good manners when using technology. I think one of the biggest issues is the use of a smart phone when having a face to face conversation with someone. There's nothing more disrespectful than someone who is texting on their phone while you are trying to talk to them. When someone is trying to talk to you put your cell phone away and look at them and listen. It seems like people feel like they can be on their phones anytime anywhere.

I agree with your comment completely.  I make sure I either have my cell phone on mute or turned off whenever we go out with friends for the evening.  Whenever one of my friends begins texting someone during our conversation, it makes me feel like I'm not good enough to hold their interest.  This is very rude behavior and it is a bad habit that I see both teens and adults have difficulty with.

I agree that it is rude to use a cell phone when talking to someone, maybe this is aging me.  It is so important to model the appropriate behavior to teens and adults.
