When my niece was in 6th grade, a classmate took it upon herself to belittle my niece through her school email account. The messages were wholly inappropriate and very damaging to my niece. The school tried to deal with the problem through various methods, but ultimately my niece had to put up with it the entire year. It angered me greatly that there was a technology in place that the school could not control. This was six years ago, I hope that there are now safeguards in place against this sort of attack.
