Legal Avenue for Violation of Rights

Wendy Luedeman
We spend time discussing what is and is not allowed and legal when it comes to using digital resources.   What if your rights are violated and you discover that someone has stolen your ideas, work, research, etc. that you have posted to share?   It should be equally important that we educate students on their rights and legal avenues when it comes to creating.

In our school, we have a class for students to create their own working apps.  Much time is spent discussing the 'not stealing' of others ideas in creation, but very little discussion happens regarding "what if YOUR idea is stolen".

Basically, I feel like we are spending too much time talking to kids about what they shouldn't do.  More attention should be paid to the inevitability that THEIR work will be misused, and what they can do about it.
