Middle School

Ellen Carey
I have found that middle school students struggle with the concept of financial literacy.   I believe the sooner students can be taught basic information about finances the better they will be able to manage their money when they get older.  It is so important that they are taught simple things such as how to write a check and what the difference is between debit and credit cards for example.

I agree with this message. Junior High can be trying for parents and teachers. Most students don't have an idea what financial literacy is. Money decisions are usually made by the parent. Yet when does it become the responsibility of the student to make these important decisions? Financial literacy should be taught at an earlier age. Students need to be thinking about money issues and how it will effect them down the road of life.
