Norms/Responsibilities

Joni Sikkema
I teach elementary and I feel like more and more I am concerned with the content that they may or may not encounter.  It's important that I teach them to be responsible in what they are consuming and what they are putting out there or searching for.  With the latest MOMO craze I have had a lot of conversations with them pertaining to this topic.  On the flip side..... technology and the internet has brought some wonderful research papers/projects that my students wouldn't have had access to if they didn't have the world at their fingertips.  It's finding a balance and teaching them to be responsible as a consumer and as a source.

It is a scary place to allow students to search for answers to their own questions.

I agree. Kids have access to anything and they don't understand how to set limits and what is good and what is harmful.
