Norms and Responsibilities

Melissa Daniels
Students should have a basic understanding of how to use the digital world to be creative and communicate with others. A "norm" should be a basic understanding of the fact that privacy will not be explicitly shared without user permission. User responsibilities involve understanding that the online world is large and complicated, and that there is a chance that user information could get compromised, so to use caution regarding what to post online. That involves ANY digital platform that a student was to use. They also need to have digital "code-switching" responsibilities - to understand that they do not communicate on a digital platform the same way that they would communicate on an app with their friends. They need to understand how to communicate on e-mails and other presentation formats professionally.

I didn't take into consideration the difference between casual and formal use when communicating with technology, that is a very good point.  I thought more about how what students do and use will reflect upon them publicly.
