Norms and Responsibilities

Sarah Hill
I firmly believe in teaching digital rights in the context of social skills.  Just as we currently teach students how to greet peers and adults, how to appropriately use the restroom, and how to resolve conflict on the playground, we have a responsibility to teach them how to utilize the internet and interact online respectfully and responsibly.  As another user stated, "perceived anonymity makes it easy for students to forget about their digital footprint."  Teaching students how easily information is shared, and the ease with with information is found, is a key to helping students use digital resources appropriately.
