Norms and Responsibilities

Users should have the right to free speech and access to information in the digital world. That being said, both of these come with moral and ethical responsibilities that must be part of digital citizenship both in and out of classrooms. As today’s kids are enveloped in a technology-rich environment from birth, it is so important to teach kids user responsibilities such as information about their digital footprint, about accessing relevant and factual information, and about online kindness, professionalism and cyber-bullying. How this looks differs as students grow K-12, but the building blocks should be started in kindergarten.
