I teach in a one-to-one computer school. I believe our students have a good handle on using their digital world. Our AEA specialist come to our school to do a workshop with our students when we first went one-to-one.
They were informed about their digital footprint. We discussed they do have the freedom of speech. But, of course it shouldn't be hurtful. Some people, both students and adults forget it's not appropriate to post digitally something they wouldn't say face to face.
Some people also use social media as their personal journal.
