Online Identities

Jodi Osthus
What is this world coming to that we need 1000 "friends!?" I am checking out some of the social media that I do not have currently. Keep trying to stay in denial that this is not the real world, but for teens it really is their world!

It appears that it is very easy to make a false online identity.  I see young people I know that have ages that are a lot older than they really are.  There is nothing to keep people from lying about ages.

It amazes me when talking with my daughter's how many friends they have and the deep conversations they have over the internet with them.  When I ask them if they have personally met these friends in real life, and the response is "no", I am bewildered as to how teenagers just openly tell each other such personal things without even having a "in person relationship."
