Padlet

Miranda Adams
Padlet would be a great tool for students to engage in discussions around a question or perhaps reflect at the end of a lesson. Think of post-it notes but instead of students writing on paper, they are typing on "post-it notes" online. The post-its can be customized with font and color. The teacher can "expand" notes which makes them go nearly full screen. I would love to try this with a "How has your thinking changed?" prompt around a topic!

Thank you for your description of this product and the creative way you are thinking of using it.  I think that some of the best ways to start to use a new product is to do something that is already been tested and then as you get to know the material you can make adjustments to how it will work best for you.

I agree that padlet is good for discussions. Sometimes students will share more when they can write it down instead of sharing it outloud. I also like how you really don't know who typed the response.

I have used Padlet in the past to identify misconceptions among my students.  It is nice to post the Padlet on the screen so students can see what other are writing. I've had them "like" responses if they felt/thought the same way.   It is also nice to come up with ideas for small group discussion based on Padlet responses.

This is a great idea for an application. Student responses are often more fair and honest when anonymous, and this is a simple application that will be able to serve as a learning check or exit ticket.
