Personalization vs. Differentiation

Deanna Clark
I think personalization and differentiation are distinctly different concepts. From what I have read in this course it seems to me that personalization gives the student free choice to determine what they will learn, how they will learn, and the end product of the learning. Differentiation is more teacher driven. The teacher determines the learning target then offers various avenues to get meet the learning target. The student has choice in what avenue they take but that is it.

I think you would know instantly which kind of classroom you entered because the personalized classroom would have a plethora of topics whereas the differentiated classroom would have a singular topic.
