Remind

Aaron Hamann
Remind is an app that is used extensively at our school, and has even started to trickle into our community through youth programs, golf course reminders, and city notices. The nice thing about Remind is that people can opt in or out of the text message reminders at any time if they choose, but once they are in a group, they receive all the updates from the "class" administrator, and the administrator (typically a teacher) does not have to have a list of parent or student phone numbers on their phone, and the parents/students don't have to know the phone number of the teacher. The communication lines are certainly open without the added risk of inappropriate texting or possible communication from families at inappropriate times of the day. I have started using it instead of direct text messages mainly to protect myself from anything being misinterpreted.

We use Remind in our school also.  I find as a parent it is extremely helpful when trying to organize my children's schedules.

Thanks.   We have been looking into something like this for our school.  We are finding many of our parents are not listening to our voicemails but will respond quickly to text messages.

I also find Remind to be a great resource to stay in touch with students and parents without the need of handing out my cell phone number, which I am very uncomfortable doing. Before starting to use Remind, I was relying heavily on emails, but students check their emails so infrequently it wasn't a great solution.

Yes, our school also does remind. it comes in handy when you need to get something out to students or parents right away
