I have not use Backchannel Chat, but it looks like a good tool to use. I used to teach lifeskill special ed classes at the high school. We were 1:1 also, but usually the internet did not function very well. It would get overloaded. If the internet was not an issue, Backchannel Chat would be something my students could do and understand.
