Rights, Norms & Responsibilities

Ginger Chatfield
Since I am taking this to renew my para license, I will make this comment in the context of what minors "rights, norms, and responsibilities" might be.
I believe that digital usage starts at a very young age at home and at school, and that these students should be protected somehow.  Teaching them online/digital safety is a must, but that might not be enough.  Young users might not have the maturity to know and understand that their digital lives are being used to track their interests and more.  That in itself is not bad but it could be misused in the future.  I think that adults have the responsibility to make it safer for students to use the internet by  being proactive in educating them (ongoing and repeated education) on the hazards of what they search for and what they put out for others to see.

I agree with you about students needing to be taught responsibility as soon as we start handing them digital devices.
