Rights & Responsibilities

Christine Skog
I believe our digital rights and responsibilities should reflect those that we have now as citizens. We should have the rights to browse, speak our mind, purchase things, etc., but just as in the real world, we can't take these things for granted. There has to be limits, respect and regulation of this for everyone to have their freedoms, but not interfere with another's. Students (and adults) need to be taught these because many times they lack the understanding or critical thinking skills to assess a situation and its possible outcomes. Just like you must pass a test for a license, you should have to pass an assessment of knowledge before using technology. While this doesn't take away every danger, it will help students become smarter in the digital world for a brighter future.
