I use youtube in my classroom.  I think one precaution that I would make is to take time to preview the video first, and also sometimes, keep it hidden so the students don't see the ads, because sometimes they are not the best for the educational setting. For instance I had a Victoria Secret add come up when I was doing a video on digging for fossils.  Even though I had previewed the video, the popup ads change.

I do like youtube because they are current and most times can find something that is relevant in what I am teaching.

I use youtube a lot too.  There are so many good, educational clips that I use in my art classroom.  You are definitely right about previewing first though.  I do wish someone would come up with good short biographies on famous artists that I could show.  Maybe it should be me!!?
