I have used Audacity when students have finished a book.  They make audio trailers of their book to share with others.  I have also had students use Prezi and Animoto to present books they have read.  The organization of Prezi makes it very easy for younger students to show literary elements. Kidblog works well for lit. circle groups to share thoughts and ideas about their reading.  Text2Mind Map is something I have not used but I think could be useful for vocabulary maps.

Yes the use of Prezi by upper elementary and middle school students has been a success. I have used it with various language skills and social studies topics.
