Sharing Resources

Stephanie Mugge
Our access to tech is somewhat limited at Heelan and surprisingly not all students have their own computers. However, with planning, teachers are able to check out laptops for their rooms.
I have used Quizlet in my classroom to reinforce Spanish vocabulary and grammar concepts from our chapter.  Using technology definitely keep the students engaged and adding the aspect of competition helps as well.  The students love the instant feed back too.
As for a communication aspect,  I have also used Edmodo to communicate to students and parents and have found that beneficial to keep lines of communication open and keep everyone informed.

My district has found the students use Quizlet a lot too.  I think it is a wonderful tool to help with students and studying.  Our district also uses Edmodo and Google Classroom.  We are a 1:1 iPad district and this school year the students are not taking them home, but many have found they can use their phone for studying and keeping up with what needs to be done when.

We also just Quizlet in my science classroom. It's an excellent way to review before a test. My students also really enjoy using the "Quizlet Live" review. They have to work together to match the vocabulary. They seem to understand the vocabulary much better after using Quizlet.

It sounds as if this is a popular app for many reasons. I have taken quizzes before on this, but never designed or used any for my classroom. Do they save year to year? Do they take long to create? I would be interested in learning more about it.

Quizlet live does sound intriguing.  The teacher next to me used it last week for the first time, you should have heard the kids having fun as they competed in groups to get done first with the review.
