Sharon Seaton - Personal Learning Pathway

Sharon Seaton

Learning Opportunities:
I have started research more about Personalized Learning and have shared some of what I have read from the articles from this course with my administrator and other coworkers.  They are interested and have asked for more information.  I think this is a good place to start. I have also started exploring as to how I can make my moodle classes more personalized.  I found some research on how students can build their own textbooks. I think this might be a way for my alternative students to take more ownership of their learning.

Strengths and Weaknesses
I think for now what my plan is is addressing what I need.  I often do research first, make a plan and then write a procedure to carry out that plan...just like a science teacher to turn it into an experiment..:-0)
I think the hardest part will be to implement my plan and to test it out. My students to my knowledge do not have any experience with this concept so it may take while to see if it will be successful.

Modalities
I work best in an online environment. This method I chose will suites me pretty well.  I have gotten away from paper pencil for so long that I am able to think in the car on the way home , while fixing dinner, while students working, and with voice commands I save my thinking to my phone. This  is what I am most comfortable with.

Artifact
I think the best way for me to get started is to have a select group of students start out with using Symbaloo. Then with the information I have found on how students could build their own textbook, I might try that even though we are in second semester, maybe just have students try it out 4th quarter.

I think that you have a great plan to begin.  It's always good to test something out with a smaller group and then whole class.  Nicely done!
