Trust & Ethics

Elizabeth Bender
One problem I have seen occur is people passing along email addresses to others without asking permission from the owner. I unfortunately had a mother (who was a real estate agent) give out our whole email list of ballet students to a new studio owner she was selling a property to. It was part of her sales deal. She never asked if she could have them and assured me it was standard industry practice. All of these contacts were then solicited by the new studio owner.
It is very difficult to trust anyone when you are dealing with digital information. Everyone must be extremely cautious and unfortunately assume that the worst may happen.
