I have worked at 3 different schools in my 7 years as a teacher.
The first school I taught at was a large district that heavily used technology and social media to connect students to students, teachers to students, parent to teachers, and etc.
Everyone had a twitter, the tech department, different departments in the school system, each school, even the superintendent.
In this case i started following all of these accounts so that I could stay connected and in the loop with what was going on with the school.

Twitter can also be great to help stay up to date on current events, which would be great for older students in a current events class, or even a gov class.
