Using G-Mail in the Classroom

Janice Bear
As an Adult Literacy and ESL instuctor, G-Mail will be a great tool for communication with both a class (because of labels) and with individuals.  The nice thing is students will be able to get messages on their computers, tablets, and smart phones, so the internet isn't a requirement for all devices. For example, if I have to cancel a class, I can easily let the students know, saving them the hazzle of calling "the center".
Also, I can give them assignments, test appointment times, reminders, etc.  I also plan to use the Goggle Translate feature in my ESL classes, sending the messages in both English and Somali, Spanish, etc. to students.  Best of all, I'll be able to share my knowledge of G-Mail with my students in the technology units.
