Using Gmail in the classroom

JMeyer
I teach elementary aged students, so we do not communicate often using gmail.  However, with our distance learning this has become a more frequent activity as they communicate with me via their parent's email or school email. There are many tips I will use in the future.  As I communicate with families,it will be so helpful to organize their emails and keep them separate from other messages I receive from staff and fellow teachers. Having their contact information right there will be convenient for emails, phone calls, or other forms of communication.

I also like the idea of possibly having pen pals write to one another either using gmail or Google hangouts.  Students could discuss projects, hobbies, and collaborate to complete certain assignments.

I was really impressed with the Labels feature.  This seems like a great way to unclutter your inbox and also be able to quickly find important emails.
