Using Gmail in the classroom

Kari Scherbring
There are so many ways that gmail can be used in a classroom. I have already created groups to quickly and easily send performance reminders, monthly or weekly newsletters, and other important information to all the parents and students in my vocal music program. I would like to expand on that and begin using gmail as a way to discuss and brainstorm ideas with students. I could see the group chat feature working well for this. I have not used the tasks feature much but can I see how that would help me keep everything organized. I would also share task lists with students in my program. I could use it to share a checklist for what they need to bring on a show choir trip, or a list of tasks with due dates for our school musical (for example; memorize lines by November 1st, find and bring costume to school by November 15th, etc.). The possibilities are endless!

I agree that the TASK feature is one that music educators can really use. That way, you would never wonder where you put that list for that student, group, concert....

If I don't write something done, it's probably not going to get done.

I like your idea of using the task feature as well.  It was new to me.
