When the scientist worked they use terminology that was very specific to the phenomena they were dealing with. It is obvious they have experience with the content and can explain it in a scientific manner. When students interact with the phenomena they are only able to describe it, based on their previous understandings and simple vocabulary. This emphasizes the importance of explicitly teaching the vocabulary that is associated with each new topic that is discussed in our science curriculum.
