With technology so readily available to nearly everyone at all times, as educators we need to continually reinforce to our youth the importance of ethical digital citizenship. Although the technology world might seem "unreal" at times to young users, we need to impress on them that whatever footprint they leave will follow them. Deleting something will not remove it from your online presence, it will remain. Communicating responsibly is no different digitally than face to face. And even if we think we can be anonymous behind a computer screen, we must still represent ourselves honestly and accurately. Technology presents so many challenges, but also so many opportunities. The opportunity of expanding our world through technology is daunting, but also invigorating.
