Andrew Reif: Internet Safety

What social networking site did you explore and what settings in that site should users be aware?

I looked at my Facebook page, something I haven't done in a long time. When I first got into teaching I made sure my page was squeaky clean for interviews. I remember I had to change settings to allow a perspective principal look at my Facebook page (part of the interview process back then).

I haven't posted to Facebook in a long time and hence had not looked at the settings either. There are so many more options to make posts, pictures, etc. public to anyone or even locked down to friends of friends of friends. These privacy settings are nice to limit the amount of people who are able to view your content. Like the video "Avoid problems on social media" (https://youtu.be/GF73jtyp7Ok?si=64JtRcwHk9TPJTY7) stated "Seriously? Do you want 1000 people to know what you are doing on a day-to-day basis?" Limited the number of people who can see your content will help you stay safe from those who may want to use your information or pictures for other reasons.
