What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in this digital world? What user responsibilities do you feel should be expressed in this digital world?
A norm for the digital world should be digital safety. Elementary students are exposed to more digital content today than in previous years. A norm that teachers and adults need to model is avoiding sharing personal information with others, even in creating user names and posting passwords in classrooms. Teachers especially make themselves susceptible to hacking when private digital information is listed on a Post-It note in the sub folder. Modeling good privacy for digital information starts with the teacher and other adults.
It should be a digital responsibility of companies to keep private that same information. The use of third-party cookies and selling information is unethical when it comes to digital citizenship. Private citizens have the responsibility to access trusted cites, but even those cites are not always the most trustworthy.
