What was new learning for you?
This is the first art course I have taken since elementary school, so almost everything in this first section was new to me. Specifically interesting to me was the way that the small number of primary colors combines to create secondary and tertiary colors and that within those colors we still only have a small number of overall colors. The addition of white or black to make colors brighter or darker is where many of the nuances we see in colors comes from.
What was a review?
The idea of lines and textures being a concept discussed in visual art was a review for me. The few experiences I have had with art in my life has involved discussing these concepts.
How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I am currently a principal, so I would not likely be able to apply these concepts to teaching, but I can apply them when discussing with staff visual artistic materials that we use to promote school initiatives and events.
