What was new learning for you?
Like many others I hadn't really thought about lines being man made inventions. Also the meanings behind the different types of lines was something that makes sense, but I hadn't really thought about prior to this course. The art terminology was interesting and helpful. AND- I did not know how to spell complementary correctly in regards to color.
What was a review?
Much of the knowledge of color and other elements of art was review.
How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I will be teaching 5th grade for the first time in many years, and think that these concepts will be applicable to math and science, specifically geometry comes to mind. Last year I was introduced to a visual analysis wheel, which students use to analyze and think deeply about images. The vocabulary and concepts we learned would be helpful to students who are using the wheel to describe/analyze images.
