Both FaceBook and Instagram have special security settings for teens under the age of 16. Teens will not be able to message with adults they are not connected to. The social media platforms are also identifying "suspicious accounts" as accounts who belong to individuals who have recently been blocked or reported. Suspicious accounts will not show up in suggested people teens may know. Other important settings that are important to people of any age group are the privacy settings which limit what information people can see about you if you are not "friends". Lastly there are also new tools being developed to stop the spread of innappropriate pictures online. These are in development and have not been released yet.
