DC Internet Safety

Janet Polley
I have Facebook, Instagram, Snap-chat, Linked-In, Twitter, and Google+.  I use Facebook to keep up with family and friends (since they are all out of state except one), I do enjoy reading about their exploits and catching up on classmates.  I also enjoy the memes that people post.  I never thought of rechecking my settings until I watched the video.  I now have a reminder set on my phone to check it monthly.  The others I started for different classes and the only one I actually use is Snap-chat with my children and a couple of other teachers.  I have always been a little leery of the internet and watching the videos and reading up on some of the links I am even more leery of it.  I did like the idea of opening an account so that no one can open it up with using my name so as to having more control over my identity.  I also talk with students quite a bit about keeping safe on Facebook...I need to be more diligent about Twitter and Snap-chat and the dangers they should be aware of.
