DC Internet Safety

Willis Patenaude
I looked at Facebook. Which is probably the hardest to navigate because of how it situates settings and privacy and the abundance of options from which to choose. There are 29 options listed under settings and privacy shortcuts is less than manageable without devoting more time and effort than one should need to secure a social media site. Users should be aware of the two-factor authentication option and the authorized logins which helps prevent being hacked. Under privacy settings, people should be aware that you can make turn off the options where people can find your Facebook via your email and telephone number, however, the friend of a friend of a friend and suggestions options severely undermines both. Under public posts, you should make it so only friends can view them, it makes your profile more secure and private. Also, the blocking feature comes in handy should someone locate you, try to friend you or to keep certain people from being able to even see your profile at all.
