DC Internet Safety

Paul Jeffers
I went into Facebook with my wife, as she is more experienced with it and I found the settings somewhat overwhelming and confusing.  Obviously, I don't want to make everything private, but what should be "private", "friends only" and "public"?
The more serious problem I am curious about is the proliferation of ads on this very website for "dating" (e.g. Russian girls) or some woman who is 2.8 miles away (interesting how different women are all 2.8 miles away), etc.  Now, I realize that I can turn off ads, but why should I even have to do that?  This is a State of Iowa website.  If we can't shield adults from these kind of inappropriate ads on a state website, imagine what our kids are being exposed to, especially in light of this module's subject matter.  I even spoke with a woman I know who told me that sometimes, she gets ads like this, so obviously, they are not appearing because of some aspect of my profile.  Is anyone else noticing these ads and inappropriate content showing up?
