Whenever using social media (Pinterest is my favorite), I always make it a point to check and update, with great regularity, my privacy settings. I try to be as vague as possible with information I consider personal. I work with middle school ESL students and many of my parents have just turned over the reins when it comes to their child's social media outlets. I am going to suggest one baby step to my parents: whatever social media their child is using, make it a requirement that Mom or Dad see the privacy setting (s). This will help them protect personal information about their child and initiate a conversation with their child about internet safety.
