DC Internet Safety

Kathy C
The social media sites I am most familiar with are
*Facebook--I keep this on the highest privacy setting that I can. That being said, today I posted a picture to Facebook in a group message (part of group I belong to), and I was surprised that friends not in that group were liking the post. Apparently, if you post something to a non-private site, it can be seen by many people, not just group members.
*Twitter--I also keep this completely private. I use it more as a place to retweet my favorite professional articles so I can find them later, or it also is handy when I participate in a workshop and could tweet out sound bites to coworkers who couldn't come.
*Instagram--I rarely use this one. I think I have less than a dozen friends on this site.
*Snapchat--I am only friends with my husband and teenage daughter, and the only reason we are on is to keep tabs on the teenage daughter. She would often rather snapchat a picture than send a text message to us telling us where she is.
