I have used Facebook for almost 10 years and, fortunately, have not had issues with privacy. I am careful to allow only people I know to view my posts and I am careful, too, not to be too controversial or politcal with my comments. It has been a great tool for me to connect with friends from long-ago. However, my children are now beginning to want to join the world of social media. I am using the privacy tools to make their accounts as unaccessible to unknown "friends" as possible. It is not easy as they enjoy receiving friend requests. I try to explain to them the dangers and the importance of being vigilant with their on-line accounts.
I recently joined Twitter and am currently learning to navigate that site. I have not yet figured out all the privacy options and until I do so, I am keeping my 'tweets' light-hearted and non-political. It feels like a whole frontier is out there!
