DC Internet safety

heatherwalker
I explored my Facebook account and went through my privacy settings, making a couple of adjustments.  I've always kept my account closed to all except friends and/or myself, but there were some new settings of which I was able to avail myself.   Then I opened a Snapchat account just to see what it was like and to explore.  I found that one had to go through the settings and manually hide one's birthday, email, and phone number from friends or the public, as these were initially set to "everyone".  I would stress to students that while it may be nice to get birthday greetings from friends on social media, it is not worth the risk of the world knowing your personal information, and to keep that kind of information private.
