Social media such as Facebook and Snapchat allow students to interact with one another in sometimes inappropriate ways. The adult conversation that can sometimes come out in a Facebook chat between middle schoolers and an unknown individual or the inappropriate pictures that might be sent is sad and frightening. Students are exposed to images and information that is well beyond their years. Teaching students to "friend" only those they know in real life and post pictures and type text is appropriate is key for students.
