The first time I co-taught as a Teacher Librarian with an English 10 teacher with a discussion group, we set up 5 guidelines for students about appropriate responses. Some of the students added inappropriate messages that put down other students. We had the ability to delete the inappropriate responses and spent time the next day talking about why we deleted some of the messages in a general way so only the students who had posted the messages knew what they said. The time this took was worth the effort. Some of the students didn't even realize we would think the responses were inappropriate. We continued with the discussion group in the class and didn't have any more problems.
