I really try to be mindful of what I do on Social Media. As a teacher I realize that I am always in the eye of the public, so I try to be very careful about what goes on Twitter or Facebook. Those are things I also preach to my students, so they can avoid issues.
If I do receive something inappropriate I do my best to coach the person who sent it to me through the situation so it does not happen again. What is tough in those situations is taking the emotion out of what was posted at the time. This is why before I send an email that I feel might be difficult I wait or have someone read it before I send it. I don't want my message mistaken or hurtful.
