I think that the freedom to access information and the right to protect privacy are important norms that individuals accessing digital media should expect. The problem becomes there is no automatic separation of individual accessing the media. Adults and children alike will enter the space with different intention yet often end up in the same place. This is where the responsibility should enter. Beyond filters that we have in place, as adults it is important that we teach children the facts of the material they will encounter as they access digital media especially the internet. The children need to be taught skills for becoming part of the digital society like handling inappropriate content and their rights and responsibilities from a young age.
