Everything comes with both rights and responsibilities. When we work with students we need to constantly be emphasizing both. All people should have access to the internet, just like we have access to roads and drinking water. We also need to know how to keep ourselves safe. It is the responsibility of each of us to USE the safeguards that are available - which means we need to know about the potential dangers, and how to protect ourselves. In addition, it is important for us to acknowledge that just as we need to be paid for our work and property, others do too. We need to know what is freeware and what we need to pay to use. Sometimes that payment is just giving credit to the person who shared with us.
