As a consumer I should have the right to information, free of limitations but I should also have the right to privacy. As an educator, it is my job and responsibility to teach students about the digital world. Students should understand how to post responsibly and how to be “safe” in the digital world. That means - when and how to post. Students should understand that there is a lasting effect that comes with posting and that could cause harm to themselves or to other people. Students should also be able to think critically about what is posted and whether the source is credible. As more and more information is available, students need to be able to decipher if the information is reliable and trustworthy.
