DC internet safety

Zachary Day
I logged into the only social networking site I have, which is Facebook.  Even then, I hardly ever post online, and I have seriously considered deleting my account due to inactivity.  I logged in to check my privacy settings, which I’ll admit I haven’t looked to closely at.  I did change some things around (I think I bumped most things up one security notch, and most of the things people can see on my account are only able to be seen by friends. I have always told my friends that I will give out information like that should they need it, but they have to come through me first.   If I don’t know someone who tries to “friend” me, I delete the request.  In fact, I often go through and delete people I don’t know well, or I don’t talk to enough to merit being “friends.” Checking the privacy settings can help with unwanted contact. People need to be aware of who can see their personal information, especially contact information (e-mail, phone number, address, etc.).
