Last year I taught a group of 7th / 8th grade LD students. During class one day, I noticed that one of my girls was not acting herself. I asked her what was wrong. To make a long story short, she had been on her phone the night before and some kids from another school had told her that she was worthless and should kill herself. She was devastated. We had a long discussion with her and the other girls in class (this had stemmed from something the others had done.) It was a good way to show them how something they had done could snowball into something horrible. I think it opened their eyes a little. And yes, we did make sure that the parents and administrators were aware of what was going on.
