I feel the norms should include the right to free speech, but within good taste. Users should use "grandma talk"- if you wouldnt say it around your grandma then dont say it, in this case insert write. Like anything this needs to be introduced to the user and often times revisited on a case by case basis. You want them to have the freedom to explore and investigate, but also know when to stop and rethink what they are doing. Overall, I think users generally have appropriate etiquette.
