Digital Citizenship: Internet Safety

rahnavardia
I only use Facebook. However, my students and even my own kids use Snapchat and Instagram all the time. Many of my students also use TicTok. I have conversations all the time with both my students and my kids about what they post. I remind them constantly that what they post is there FOREVER! We also talk about how who can get to their posts and what is appropriate to be posted. They even realize that some material is really inappropriate, especially on TicTok. I realize there are plenty of parents out there who never have this kind of conversation with their kids and my concern is many students do not see the consequences of what they post. I read someone else post that many of their students have said that they lie about their age in order to be able to post to some sites, I have seen this as well.

It is a never ending battle to remind students that once something is online, it is there forever
