Digital Rights and Responsibilities

Technology is a great tool for enhancing education however it is very important that students are taught to use it responsibly.  It is very important that they understand that everything they post including words and images can be traced back to them.  If they wouldn't or shouldn't say or do something in person they shouldn't say or do it online.  It is also important that students learn to properly cite internet sources that they use for research.  Some students think it is ok to copy and paste what they found online and use it in assignments.  Students need to be taught why this is not ok and how to use information and credit it to the author in the right way.

There is a perception of anonymity on the internet. I agree that it is very important to teach that the Golden Rule applies to the internet as well as everyday life.
